Our mission is threefold:
(1) to get climbers involved in discussion of issues related to climbing area management and access,
(2) to encourage active involvement in coordinated efforts to take care of our crags, and
(3) to maintain good relations with other recreational users and land managers or owners.
We believe that these actions must be taken in order to assure future access to the areas where we climb.
We envision a broadly based, Washington grown organization that will be a coalition of various sub-groups within the Washington climbing community. Many climbing areas have their own tight-knit user groups and various interest groups already exist - examples being boulderers or climbing clubs, or those who are concerned with a particular issue that may exist in more than one climbing area such as bolting practices or wildlife impacts.
While there will always be differences in climbing styles and in specific positions on certain issues, we believe that Washington climbers need to come together to discuss the challenges that lay before us. Our best hope at maintaining the vitality of the sport, the integrity of the crags, and just plain access lies in the formation of a coalition that can promote our collective interests.
