With my wife and kids out of town, I headed out to Fossil Rock for a little after-work bouldering on Friday night. After leaving Olympia and slogging through the single-lane strip mall hell of Yelm, I was met at the gated logging road entry by a woman in a Weyerhauser security truck who kindly informed me that the "whole tree farm is closed--even to walkers." Indeed, there were signs at the gate declaring that the entire area is closed to ALL public access due to extreme fire danger. So, I went home, drank a beer, and watched Felix Hernandez pitch.
