I hadn't heard any news from the WCC for the last several months. I'd like to propose a discussion on a membership plan. I don't know what exactly needs to be addressed, but what comes to mind (in no specific order) is:
Fees - do we charge a fee to be a member? I'd say no, but ask for donations to cover material costs. Offer memberships to businesses too!
Promotions - I'd like to see WCC represented in some way at every climbing-related slideshow and event, with borchures/sign-up sheets. Perhaps this should be accomplished through regional volunteers (for example, Regional Promotion Volunteers based in in Bellingham, Everett, Tacoma, Olympia, Ellensberg, Yakima, and Spokane).
Materials - how about a nice, high-quality, glossy brochure, with information about what the WCC seeks to do and how to join and/or donate inside. These would be distributed to the Promotion Regional Volunteers to pass out or make sure they're available at special events and local stores.
Corporate Membership - invite climbing-related businesses to join and donate too.
Spread the Word - posters using high-quality donated photos and stickers with a WCC logo to get the word out ot the mass and raise awareness of the WCC. Banners to hang at member businesses and special events...
This is just the tip of the iceberg - and I'm just brainstorming. I'm also willing to take on some responsibility for some of this...anyone willing to step up and put some work in too, especially in publishing/artwork?

Thanks for jumping in, Chris!

We've been working on a number of issues and projects behind the scenes, but we have a real need to sit down and map out a plan for just the kind of things you're talking about, and more. It would be great to have you involved.

Are you able to come to Seattle on a weeknight? Kind of a long trek from Bham, I know.

Excellent ideas Chris. As we finish up the ground work for startup's like us we will need to move forward with ideas like yours. I would love to see us all over the place and better organized getting things done and our voices heard.

I am available and willing to come down on a weeknight, with the following exceptions:
14-28 March. I'm in Red Rocks
15-28 April. I'm in Red Rocks AGAIN...
10 June - August 28. I'm in Bishop...but I can work with conference calls and email conversations...

Sorry to be so slow jumping back in. Getting caught back up at university was a bitch.
Here's what I can do from here -
I intend on starting a new club at WWU next fall, the WWU Chapter of the WCC. I intend for us to be active in Whatcom and Skagit counties. I'm hoping to involve the WWU Outdoor Center, the AAI retail store, Mt. Baker Ski Shop, Graham's, and local guidebook authors (is Dallas on this forum?).
Perhaps what I do here can be an example to what can be done elsewhere. I thought that I could somehow coordinate outreaches like this state-wide, but I'm starting to notice that the day doesn't have enough hours. Can anyone fix that for me? :p

Hi. I've been MIA since early 2006. I think a thick package of papers inside an envelope from "preston ellis gates" kinda took the wind outta my sails.

But with a recent move to Tacoma (from Manson, near Chelan) I seem to have more free time, and a renewed interest to pump up WCC.

I just finished reading about every post, in every thread, in all forums. My head is spinning.

Could I cajole an evening get together? Any location is fine, by me; just another reason for a motorcycle ride in Seattle summer! I'm sure there's plenty to talk about and make plans.

Never in a hurry but I sure do like having a plan on the table,
David Yount.
