Here's a letter we received on this issue:

The Forest Service is getting ready to reissue the permit for the Index Gun Club. Comments are due to District Ranger Barbara Busse by December 1. I enjoy hiking the trails of Index Town Wall, but it's something I would not do when they are shooting due to the noise and racket, which they propose for every Sunday. I have no idea how the climbers tolerated this either...

Here's a copy of my letter (attached) to Barbara Busse, plus the scoping letter. I would encourage you to contact Barb directly if you have questions, since the information is very vague. The Index Town Council also is going to discuss a letter of support at the next meeting on Monday, Dec. 7 at 7:00 p.m. so it won't hurt to contact the Town as well.
