The Department of Fish and Wildlife has observed a pair of nesting falcons in the Skyline Arete area at Mt. Erie. They are asking climbers to stay out of the area until the nesting is complete (presumably this will occur by mid July or so). The attached photo indicates that the crags known as "Skyline Arete" and climbs in the area of "Cowboys Don't Cry on the western portion of the Main Wall are involved. Climbing remains allowed on the remainder of the Main Wall and other crags at Mt. Erie. They ask that, even if you are on a climb outside the designated closure area, you leave and climb somewhere else if you experience the birds demonstrating territorial behavior such as dive bombing you.
