The Wenatchee, Okanagon, and Colville National Forests are undertaking a new management plan, and a recreation planner named Vladimir Steblina in the Wenatchee office has asked us to provide an inventory of all crag projects currently under way, along with a catalog of areas where we might envision future climbing activity.
Does anybody have thoughts on this?
If climbers don't identify areas we are interested in, they may adopt a management plan that restricts or even bans climbing in areas they didn't even know about, but on the other hand there are those who fear the increased scrutiny that may come with disclosing the areas where they climb.
On balance, I think it'd be good if climbers worked more closely with rec planners like Vladimir, and I think it'd be good to help him assemble his inventory.
