I have received an e-mail stating that, as of June 8, 2009, rangers from the Leavenworth District have determined that the pair of Peregrine Falcons who have nested on Midnight or Noontime Rock are not this year nesting. The nesting closure will be lifted.

Over the weekend the rangers hiked up to the cliff to investigate after scoping from the road and thinking it looked as if the birds were not there. Apparently they can somehow call the birds when they get close, and they received no response. This pair last produced chicks on Noontime or Midnight Rock two years ago -- last year it seems that they nested but did not produce young.
