Chris Greyell has the kiosk project coming up June 11 -- and he suggested we might invite folks to ocme up and celebrate our success with the Clear Creek road. Camping up there is real nice and, weather-permitting, we could have some good fun on the crags after helping Chris dig a couple of post-holes.

The kiosk is going to be one of those heavy-duty wooden signboards with a picnic-shelter overhang on top. It'll house signs about low trace climbing, wilderness regulations, and an informational poster about the goat counting project being undertaken by the Sauk-Suiattle tribe.

We might have an opportunity to shake hands with some people from the Forest Service and the tribal biologist.

We're meeting at the Eightmile Creek trailhead at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 11, to install a new kiosk at the trailhead. Afterwards, we expect to go climbing.

The Everett Branch of the Mountaineers is considering making the Eightmile Trail one of it's projects for National Trails Day on the first Saturday in June. I am hoping to include the Copper Creek Trail as well. Stay tuned.

Rumor has it that the road survived the recent bout of flooding. Trailwork up there will be greatly appreciated and the folks at the Darrington ranger station are great to work with.
