This page offers some information and links that may be of interest to parties who are organizing fund
raising events in support of the 2009 Index Climbing Fund. Additional general information on the project may be found at
2009 Index Climbing Fund.
WCC Index Fund Raising Plan:
Our successful fundraising campaign will depend on the participation of a broad segment of the climbing community as well as the support of businesses and
others who frequently help support environmental and recreational efforts in the Western Washington region. We are receiving direct support from groups
including the Access Fund, the American Alpine Club, the Mountaineers, and the Trust for Public Lands. Before we were able to undertake any significant
promotional effort we received donations came from Index climbing veterans as well as climbers who have never visited the area, residents of the nearby
town of Index, climbing equipment vendors. The Washington Climbers Coalition has until December 31, 2010, to raise the money for this project and we will
conduct at least three WCC-hosted events as well as participate in or assist with events held by third parties.
We plan to start the active phase of our
fundraising effort in September or October 2009.
What we can provide:
The WCC can provide the following for your event:
Slide shows. We have slideshows on the general background of the Washington Climbers Coalition as well as more specifically about the 2009 Index
Climbing Fund effort. A sample is linked below. Please contact well in advance of your event and we will make someone available to give a presentation
(within two hours' drive of Seattle). We may also be able to provide the slideshow for your own use.
Brochures. We have a color brochure presenting the Index Climbing Fund effort and explaining what it means to Washington climbers and the Snohomish
Valley. It is available as a PDF but some printers add margins that make it fold improperly. We can provide printed and folded copies for distribution at
your event. Please order well in advance. PDF here: Index Brochure.pdf
Fliers. A one-page flier presents much of the same information as the brochure, but is easier to reproduce. PDF here:
Index Flier.pdf
Pictures. We have pictures of Index in variety of formats including digital images, old-fashioned slides, and poster-size photo prints. Just for
example, some digital limages are provided below. Please contact us regarding appropriate credits before copying and using these images.
Speaker. We can provide a speaker for your event. Please contact in advance.
Credit Card Processing. Donations can be received by check or credit card. We have on-line credit-card processing and may be able to provide a
credit card reader for events.
Logistics. We can provide limited logistical support. We will not set up the chairs for you but we may be able to assist with contact information
or publication of your event and a letter of endorsement. A copy of our logo is linked below. Please let us know if you intend to reproduce it somewhere.
